Frequently Asked Questions
What is your training experience?
I started working on my first house with my father when I was just 10 years old. My father helped me learn the process of home building and everything it entails. I’ve spent the better part of 35 years honing his skills in carpentry and masonry, and worked in construction full-time for my own business since 2008.
Why should I hire you? Isn’t the other guy who just gave me a lower bid just as good?
There are a ton of “hacks” – plumbers and carpenters with enough experience to be dangerous who are really out to do the job quickly and inexpensively. To us, less isn’t always better. We’re very serious about the work we do and won’t ever cut corners. We’ll spend the time necessary to ensure the details are complete.
We’ll ensure my customers get great value for their money.
Do you have a lot of repeat clients?
A large percentage of Bill Mozak Carpentry and Masonry’s business is repeat clients. In addition to homes and businesses, we have several clients with apartment complexes, too. Frequently a new client will witness our work on one project – say a kitchen remodel – and then hire us to do their bathroom remodel.

How far are you booked out? What is a typical project schedule?
We rarely turn down work. It’s all in the scheduling and prioritizing, and we base that on the project size, dates, etc. Working on multiple projects is not unheard of.
Who are your main suppliers? Are they local businesses too?
We try to always use local suppliers to keep money in the community. We’ve found that developing strong relationships with suppliers helps us get the best products at the best prices for our customers. It also keeps us in the know of new products that might benefit our clients.
My company has a great relationship with area suppliers. Hammond Lumber Supply is one of our best suppliers. We have an account representative who knows how we operate and knows what we love to use for our clients.
Do you work with other construction professionals? Will you work with a client’s architect?
Of course! The scale of some jobs requires that we use other professionals. For example, we prefer not to do full installs in electrical or plumbing projects for a new addition, guest home, or new home.
We also enjoy working with architects. Their work helps us really get into the thick of a project because we focus on the “doing” versus the drafting/technical work. Having plans and a spec list for supplies is great! It frees us up to focus on the details.
Do you pull all the required building permits?
We can and we will, unless the client wants to take care of that if they feel comfortable doing so. It’s just one simple way to save on budget. However, we’re happy to do whatever the client wants.
Do you carry general liability insurance? Are you licensed?
We are fully insured. While there are no licenses required in Maine, we can and will get them if necessary.
Besides Bath, ME, what other communities do you serve?
We serve residential and commercial customers in Bath, ME as well as Mid-Coast Maine, including Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset, Bristol, Newcastle, Brunswick, Harpswell, Woolwich, Topsham, and Georgetown.
